Have you tried Carmenere?

Los Vascos Grande Reserve Carmenere

If you aren’t familiar Carmenere is a French grape varietal originally found in Bordeaux.  The flavor profile is similar to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and was mistaken for Merlot for many years.  Chile is representing this varietal very nicely.  The Los Vascos winery is partly owned by Domaine Barons de Rothschild (lafite).  Their participation ensures careful wine production, resulting in quality wines.

So now onto how it tastes.  This is insanely delicious.  It was bold, rich and full of ripe blackberry.  There are savory notes of pepper and a hint of chocolate.  We have a blizzard in the forecast for tomorrow with expected accumulations up to 25 inches… (Help!).  I would be a fool if I didn’t have a bottle of this on hand to weather the storm.  You won’t need food with this powerful wine, just a good book and the right atmosphere.
