Rainy day Vacqueyras
Caves de Gigondas Vacqueyras Reserve de la Campriere
Another wine from one of my favorite regions, Southern Rhone. It occurred to me the other day why I enjoy this region so much. I think that there is a duality to the wines that encompass both new world ripeness with an old-world refined quality that makes wines from this region so remarkable.
In this glass, this is a beautiful garnet color. The aromas are earthy, with cherry and spice. Drinking this shows a lot of acidity and a nice long finish.
I love a rainy day every once in a while. It somehow gives you the license to just hang around at home and do nothing and not feel guilty about it. Apple season is just starting up so I”m making slow-cooked apple pork chops. The combination of pork and apples cooking, the rain outside and this Vaqueyrays makes for a perfect evening.
