Warm up with this Portuguese red
Herdade do Rocim Mariana Red (Alentejano)
If you have read any of my other Portuguese wine posts before you will know I am a big fan. I stand by the fact that if you are looking for a bold wine with concentrated flavors and layers of complexity NEED to give Portugal a try. This one is another winner. With the dominant grape in this blend being Touriga Nacional, you can expect lush fruit and notes of black tea and baking spice.
The Mariana is deep in color and has a beautiful nose with a long finish. This wine packs the same punch as some of your higher priced Napa cabs for half the price. You can get a bottle of Mariana red for about $13 and I promise if bold and delicious is what you want you won’t regret it. I’m keeping a bottle of this for those crockpot nights and a couple more for our ski trip with the kids.
